CIA agent Mark Freese is on a mission to find a very dangerous man. A Dutch sea captain is executed by Somalian pirates. It seems there is a connection to the elusive insurgent. The terrorist, Pakistani physician, Yusaf Hashmi, is trying to obtain a sample of a new Ebola strain to create a biological weapon. The strain is highly contagious and can readily spread by aerosol.
Meanwhile, the eyes of the world are on a recent deadly outbreak of the virus in the Congo. A scientific expedition begins with a team from Seattle. Dr. David Carson, Dr. Alister Wallace, adventurer Richard Solomon, and security consultant Earl Freeman embark on a search for an undiscovered species of highly evolved apes that carry the virus. They travel to Paris where Dr. Marie Robinette, a virologist at the Pasteur Institute, joins the expedition.
