The Rise of Islamic Fundamentalism in Uzbekistan

This paper will examine religion of Islam in Uzbekistan in order for better understanding the facts, which caused the rise of Islamic Fundamentalism in the newly independence country of Central Asia region. The study begins with a conception of religion Islam during the post-Soviet era and after the country gained its independence from the Soviet Union. Here I am going to discuss how Islam was driven underground and its institutions were significantly undermined. Next aspect was a condition of Islam after signing the declaration of independence Republic of Uzbekistan in 1991. This part of the study includes the revival process of Islam, where in the country's life Islam has rapidly risen, including cultural traditions. The core part of the study analyzes common factors, which play vital impact the rise Islamic fundamentalism in Uzbekistan. Lastly the study covers possible solutions to the problem.
