"The Ringer" tells a story of a woman who comes into a huge inheritance, she and her husband claim it, and months later her body is found buried at a construction site. It is clear that she was murdered. A young deputy sheriff assigned to the case persistently follows all leads and clues, which take him in various directions throughout California and elsewhere until he resolves the case.

"The Riverman" is about a man who is brutally beaten beyond recognition, assumed dead, and thrown into a river on the eve of his wedding.
He is found days later, barely alive, and taken to a hospital. He recovers from his injuries, but has amnesia and remembers nothing before waking up in the hospital.
Since he was found in a river, he is given the name "Riverman."
He builds a business with skills he didn't know he had. However, he lives in constant fear that his unknown, would-be killer will return and finish the job.
Finally he overcomes amnesia and with carefully laid plans, brings the killer to justice in a dramatic way.
