The Son of Mara

Sheer luck or lack of control wrenches ambitious and sheltered Blythe Seraphin away from the monotony of her life when an accident reveals that she has untapped power beyond what any witch should possess. Reluctantly, her Aunt Esther sends her to Esalroth Academy of the Mythical, Magical, and Monstrous where Blythe expects to do nothing more than hone her power and make a friend or two-something she has never had before. Upon her arrival, Blythe is surprised to find the students as well as the staff are more than eager to meet her due to their believed connection she has to a long foretold prophecy, claiming "the one" will defeat the Son of Mara-the heir of a wicked demon. Under the pressure of the Academy's (as well as the magical world's) expectations, Blythe works with her new friends to uncover the location of the Son of Mara as well as the capabilities of her own powers. As suspicions arise and new horrors find their way into Esalroth itself, Blythe must figure out whether everything she knows about Esalroth, its students, and even herself is fact or just as spoon fed to her as a fairytale.
