Charlie Kerry and his friend, Tarvis Jones, are men who have experienced significant losses in their lives. Charlie lost his marriage, Virginia estate, and contact with his three daughters upon entering federal prison for ten years. Tarvis lost his wife and son to sickness and war. When the two decide to embark upon an impressive, six-state, fishing trip, traveling across the country on Tarvis' renovated mini-bus, they experience a series of characters and events that become life-altering, personally enriching, and life-affirming. Meanwhile, Charlie's daughters begin a nationwide search for him when one daughter sees him on a national, morning, news show. Fate also plays a role in this journey of personal renewal and redemption.
