Subtitled a 'Fictional Textbook', The Ten Symphonies of Gorka Knig is at first sight a fictitious musical biography interwoven among the historical events of the twentieth century, but as usual with Dallas there is more to it. He utilises the book's mesmerising structure and his writer's art to impart an understanding of our modern age. In that sense The Ten Symphonies of Gorka Knig is an activists' book. It is also one of the great unsung masterpieces of twentieth century literature.
