Marina Carr is one of Ireland's finest contemporary playwrights. The Mai, Portia Coughlan, and By the Bog of Cats have been praised and performed throughout Ireland and the U.S. These thirteen essays explore Carr's theatrical imagination, the place of her plays in contemporary theatre, and the significance of her highly individual voice.
