Offers a critical evaluation of the foundational assumptions and claims, scriptural, theological and philosophical, of John Hick's theocentric critique of the Christian affirmation of Jesus' uniqueness. Employing the thought of Bernard Lonergan, it suggests that the road to a theological resolution of the complex issues involved will be other than what Hick proposes. This work addresses the whole complex of Hick's Christological thought in an attempt to meet his claims at their roots and in the context of world religions. Contents: The Context of Hick's Christology; Hick's Christology (Part One); Hick's Christology (Part Two); The Consciousness of Jesus; Scripture; Tradition; and Secondary Claims.
