Scotland 1746 Fighting to save his cousin from English soldiers seventeen year old John Wallace kills a young Officer. Hunted across the highlands, John is swept up in the Highland Clearances and sent into exile in New England. When his ship is damaged in a storm he is imprisoned in Ile Royal (Cape Breton), but escapes with his friend, a Mic Mac warrior. Pursued by the British, and hunted by wolves in the frozen forest, John will emerge hardened in body and spirit to seek a new beginning in Canada. Captain Scott's career is ruined by the death of the officer, his nephew, and he is posted to Boston and forbidden from returning to his homeland. On the voyage Scott saves the life of Elizabeth Lockhart, one of the richest merchants in Boston and his fortunes begin to change. But Scott's past catches up with him and he is posted to Annapolis Royal, a remote fort in Acadia, where, angry and bitter he will vent his rage on the native population. John Wallace and Captain Scott will meet again, drawn together by fate and circumstance, and the blood feud that began in the hills of Scotland and brought them both to the brink of destruction will play out its final act in the heart of the Canadian wilderness.
