     It's been almost three years since the accident and Serena's death. Widower, Steve Grenville and his seventeen-year-old daughter, Renée are beginning again. The residents of Catalpa Creek, have left the Grenville’s tragedy behind and returned to their illusion of security and peace. When a refugee family from Syria arrives in town, buried feelings of anger and violence erupt. Renée’s discovery of an ancient diary pushes both her and her Dad to see today's problems in a new light.

     The promise of a new relationship for Steve brings him joy and frustration. Renée fears losing her Dad and she’s determined that her Mom will not be forgotten.
