Torun's jewellery was a great success in 1950s and 1960s Paris. The Parisian cafes were the place for that era's celebrated intellectuals Sartre, Picasso, Bardot, Ingrid Bergman Torun met them all, while writers and jazz musicians became her friends, and all the artistic and creative world wanted her creations. Newspapers and magazines competed for the chance to photograph the stunning silversmith wearing her own jewellery.
In 1967 Torun entered into partnership with Georg Jensen Silver, and her jewellery became accessible and known all over the world a collaboration now spanning more than 50 years.
Torun's jewellery remains timelessly modern. But who was she? Here, in intimate conversation with her friend and confidant, author Ann Westin, she reveals her life story and the driving forces behind her lifelong creative work.
Ann Westin is and art historian and well-known former gallery owner and has been at the centre of the Swedish art world and Stockholm art scene for over 50 years. She served as a member of the Board of Friends of Nationalmuseum in Stockholm 2013 2021 and is currently member of the board of a number of art and music institutions. She has been an admirer of Torun's work since the late 1950s and a close friend of the artist since the 1990s.
She is the author of several articles and forewords in Swedish publications. She regularly organises specifically themed trips to Europe for art and architecture enthusiasts.
