Despite the pressures of racism and a troubled personal life, Jimmy ""The Toy Cannon"" Wynn achieved remarkable success as a power hitter. In his fifteen seasons in the major leagues he batted in 291 home runs, three of which still rank as some of the longest on record. Pigeon-holed as a contact hitter, Wynn was able to lead the Houston Astros to a successful World Series after being traded on the strength of his powerful slugging.
