Trouble in Harlon County

The Pursuers - The Cannon go silent soon after Appomattox in 1865, but three Union soldiers learn that their fighting days are not over. The war-weary Sergeant Madison Jones (Sarge), philosophical Corporal Robert Gracey (Preacher), and young sharpshooting Private Bill Brumley (Bronco) set out for Harlon County, Georgia. There, hidden at Sarge's old homeplace, lies a stash of gold, his long-buried inheritance.

Their initial encounter with the renegade Captain Owens and the notorious killer, John Coates, and his clan leads to a deadly enmity that follows them to Harlon County and beyond. Their story pits the men against all the forces at play in the south after the Civil War. Mystery, dark plots, and threats of gunplay dog their plan to unearth the gold to finance their trip to New Orleans and west. Every dilemma they confront rouses new adversaries who both inadvertently and purposely work to hinder the achievement of their goals. The war may be officially over, but the hostility continues.
