In this volume the author discusses the history of industrial paper production in Saxony and the ecological basis of modern production. Since the Industrial Revolution manufacturing companies and their production processes have formed the basis for societys approach to the environment. At the same time, however, interaction and coevolution with the environment have been important components in the development and success of modern firms. This is especially true for the paper industry because of its special needs with respect to location, available resources and waste disposal. This volume tells the story of the conflicts and organizational parameters present in the paper industry in Saxony as well as the relationship between corporations and environment in general, with special emphasis placed on the ecological basis of modern industrial corporations.
