Under the Spell of Poetry depicts a real picture of Gambian society in all its glory and contradictions. ''Looking back on her journey in poetry, Saffiatou's poems were published by the then budding entertainment magazine, Observer Light, an offshoot of the erstwhile leading national newspaper, the Daily Observer. It was my fortune to have led that company as CEO and Editor-in-Chief. During this period, we had a passion to provide platforms for creative minds. Saffiatou was one of those young brains to have taken that opportunity to exercise their talents and brighten our world.
