Based on true events, Unskilled is a story about a neighborhood grocery store employee, Lennox. She finds herself in bizarre and over-the-top situations that she must overcome. Through satire, she is able to find her voice, find her place in the community, and overcome everything from piss-filled jars to a global pandemic. Not only does this novel discuss the inner workings of retail, but it also calls out the #metoo movement for the lack of protection it gave to essential workers. The dynamic character arch helps portray a coming-of-age story that is inspirational for all readers. With satire and wit, the main protagonist flings her observations at readers invoking a sense of curiosity, wonder, and laughter.
