Unvanquished Spirit

Evie was an average girl who thought nothing unusual of her life. Her parents divorced when she was two and like thousands of children with divorced parents, spent weekends with her dad and the rest of the week with her mum. Aged ten, she and her mum moved to Barcelona, leaving her dad behind. Her new life in Spain was exciting and challenging at the same time. The promise of a better life and a lovely home failed to materialise and Evie's mother was forced to make many sacrifices along the way. One of them, sending Evie back to live with her dad, only to return when she was sixteen to discover her mother running a massage parlour. It isn't until Evie reaches her twenties that she discovers her life isn't so average after all. This story tells how she lives with her parents respective mental and physical illnesses and the child abuse she thought was acceptable and shouldn't be questioned. The hardest part is dealing with the very difficult relationship between mother and daughter; the sudden death of her father; her Mum dying of cancer four months later and the unsuspecting drama that unfolds with her inheritance. Looking back on her life, she recognises a certain presence has always been with her, helping her through the ups and downs. Every prayer is answered. Was it a coincidence, or was it God? Everything life has thrown at her, Evie always overcomes it and comes out stronger than before. Without realising it, through her perseverance, her faith and trust in God grows, as does her relationship with Him. She knows no matter what happens to her or her family, at the end of the day everything will be alright. She is an Unvanquished Spirit!
