Caught between adolescence and adulthood when we first meet in the 1990s, Geoff has been living a somewhat sheltered upbringing with his mother and grandmother. His main interests are music and photography as we follow his desire not to give up on either but to keep both career options open.
On the evening of his final day at college he falls unexpectedly for Geraldine, the sister of one his best friends and fellow student of design, Mike.
Rather than staying in, or near Brighton where he would be able to spend time with her, he moves to London to work in a large photo studio. They meet up at weekends and she provides him with the kind of fulfilment he has never felt before...
