Vianne

Living fatherless on the harsh streets of Marseille has taught the mute Vianne that she has to be tough to survive. When her mother, Corrine, is assaulted, Vianne kills the attacker-an enforcer in the French Connection drug cartel. Corrine delivers her daughter to a convent before vengeful assassins return to murder the girl.

Vianne lives in the convent, but her silently rebellious attitude and unbreakable spirit are too much for the nuns to handle. They send her from one foster family to another, where the mute girl is routinely mistreated. When she is sixteen, Vianne decides to run away, but the head of the convent has other plans: selling Vianne into a vicious sex-slavery ring.

Escape is a narrow hope. Freedom is a distant possibility. But giving in is never an option.
