Everyone understands, interprets, and experiences life's events through particular beliefs and assumptions they have. Often, we may not be aware of what these beliefs and assumptions are or how they are influencing us. Nevertheless, those filters of how we understand and interpret life are in all of us. Their impact on our lives is seen in our attitudes, feelings, and responses to life and to people. VIEWPOINT is a book that looks at a few of the most powerful and common beliefs that guide our choices and actions nearly every day. In contrast to the understanding of secularized society, the gospel of Jesus Christ presents an entirely different, and often direct opposite, view of life. We do not get to choose the consequences or results of the choices we make in life, but we do have a significant role to play in choosing some of the primary influences that will shape our views. Having the right map in life makes all the difference in the world as to the directions we end up taking. Kent Adrian is lead pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church in Bradenton, Florida. He has served as a pastor since 1982. A graduate of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Kent also is the founder and president of Life Impact Connections, Inc., which he began in 2016. Life Impact Connections seeks to counter the many expressions of a me-centered Christianity by demonstrating how the genuine God-centered Christianity of the Bible makes an amazing impact on life.
