Vision of Sarvodaya for the Mission of the Kingdom of God

Being the result of a research work done in the Department of Studies in Christianity in the University of Mysore, India, the book has kept its authenticity. The comparative study and rigorous analyses of various texts from the primary source of the Bible on the 'Kingdom of God' as preached and lived by Jesus and Early Christian Communities and the idea of Sarvodaya from the original writings and speeches of Mahatma Gandhi form the basis for developing an inculturated Indian Church through Basic Christian (Human) Communities. What is superbly conveyed in the book is the harmonious link between Sarvodaya, an apparently social ideology, to the Kingdom of God, a predominantly spiritual ideal. Jesus and Mahatma Gandhi meet in their commitment to the 'Kingdom of God'. The book is to be appreciated for its hermeneutics to integrate the Indian and the Christian and to actualize them in the contemporary situation. Dr. Paul has convincingly shown how Gandhiji's vision of Sarvodaya through Basic Human communities (BHC) could be a new way of being the Church in India and an effective means for Jesus' mission of the 'Kingdom of God'.
