Voices from Japan (Understand and Discuss Japan as It Is)

How can you represent the diversity of the Japanese population in the classroom? The author of Voices from Japan, Yuriko Nagata, collected the voices of college students, study-abroad students, freelancers, fishermen, Zainichi Koreans, etc., from all over Japan, spanning a wide range of ages, genders, professions, and nationalities. This has been made into a collection of 41 stories that allow for students to discuss contemporary social issues, challenges, and cultural values.
