This first English translation finally introduces an essential yet underrecognized 20th-century voice and includes an essay on the text by Ren Daumal, who declares that Vulturnus suffocates me with its obviousness I see behind Fargue the great frame of Doctor Faustroll. Lon-Paul Fargue (18761947) was a French Symbolist poet and essayist. He was a preeminent figure of the Parisian art scene and counted Marcel Proust and Maurice Ravel among his friends. Walter Benjamin called him the greatest living poet in France.
