Vz: Vladimir Zelenskyi and the Making of a Nation

“Zelenskyy never made the impression of being a great man.”

He is approachable, but not familiar. Quick, but not aggressive. Among his qualities was the ability to win over the nation of Ukraine and an election. Eventually, he would be forced to participate in one of the bloodiest wars of our time, inspiring his people and the world throughout. He is not, however, a perfect man. 

Based on time the author spent together with Zelenskyy and other events from the president’s life, both in the past and present, this biography exposes more than just the facts. It’s also a work of cultural criticism, taking aim at Ukrainian enemies and ethnocentrism. Large, ambitious, and expansive, VZ paints a picture of the man—and the current situation—not the president.
