Eden Abraham's world has gone up in smoke. Literally. When a fire destroys her apartment building, the twenty-eight-year-old songwriter loses everything: her home, her belongings, her job, her muse, and herself. Nashville was supposed to be her dream-come-true, her harmony in a life riddled with uneven chords. Now she's sleeping in a homeless shelter and wondering how long it'll be before her money runs out. With no one to turn to, Eden can't help feeling like all hope is gone.

Until she overhears a little boy wishing on a penny. When she watches the coin splash into the fountain in the shelter's courtyard, Eden is seized by a desire to fulfill his wish. Her life might have burned to the ground, but that doesn't mean she can't bring joy to somebody else's. For the first time in weeks, she feels like she matters. Then a song lyric comes to her, something that hasn't happened since the fire. So she continues. The more wishes she grants, the more songwriting inspiration she draws from the people she meets and the stories they share.

Sometimes the results are wonderful, like when she reunites a couple for their anniversary. Sometimes they're not, like when she gives a CD to a veteran and accidentally brings back the war memories that haunt him. And sometimes they're downright disastrous, like when she inadvertently causes a lawsuit that could mean the end of someone's business. The worst part is that the someone is Wilson, the man she's falling in love with, the man she's hidden her homelessness from, and, now, the man whose world she might have just ruined. As her happily-ever-after with Wilson starts to slip away, Eden must decide if it's best to run from her failures, or to stay and fight ... and if it just might take losing everything to find her voice.
