Wendy the Woodpecker Wouldn't Peck Wood

Wendy the woodpecker wouldn't peck wood. She didn't like it and wouldn't peck at it. Instead she preferred people food. She flew over peoples' bar-b-ques and grabbed hamburgers and chocolate cake.She started gaining weight, had no energy and appeared sickly. Her mom, a most understanding and kind lady, took Wendy to see Dr. Peck, "who knew exactly what to check." He found little Wendy overweight and sickly and strongly suggested that Wendy's mom feed her wood and little bugs. If she wouldn't eat that, Dr. Peck told her mom to mix and mash some wood chip hash, make it spicy and saucy, change the flavor, call it mish-mosh pie! Her mom followed Dr. Peck's advice, and Wendy loved it!Wendy thrived on mish-mosh pie. She regained her strength and health, and introduced mish-mosh pie and other mish-mosh varieties to her birding-school classmates, who also loved the flavor of these saucy dishes!Wendy suggested to her mom and dad, that they open fast food diners which would feature the newest mish-mosh varieties. These diners would be fast and bird friendly and feature "fly-through" service. These diners would be built high up in the trees, where fly-by birds could get a quick mish-mosh pick-me-up. "Cardinals flying to St. Looie will just love our mish-mosh, gooey!"Wendy's parents thought the treetop diner was a brilliant idea, and made Wendy's dream a reality!
