The poems are chronologically presented starting with her earliest work and proceeding through the years to represent the meaning of the book title, “What Matters,” as time and life experiences governed and guided her writing, The poems are eclectic compositions, balancing whimsical observations of modern life with more serious topics such as death, disabilities, and heaven, balanced by natural wonders of trees, music, astronomy, and characters real and imagined.

Eleanor G. Nash, “Ele” to her friends, began writing poetry as a teen-ager, studied writing at the University of Pittsburgh, earned a BA in English summa cum laude at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California. She completed the Certificate Program in Poetry at the University of Washington in 2003, and went on to earn her MA in English and Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University in 2016.

She is known for writing impromptu doggerel, special occasion poetry, music, hymns, and original songs. She has produced two CDs of her music and poetry, and her works have been published in literary journals, magazines, and sung in church. Throughout her adult life she balanced careers as a health care administrator and church musician. She is a classically trained pianist and organist who served liturgical and non-liturgical churches for over 40 years as organist/choir director as well as playing piano for musical shows starting in high school.
