Who Are We?

In this book, Louis P Pojman explores the question of human nature, seeking to understand who we are by examining the major theories of Western philosophy and religion as well as several traditions in Eastern thought. He includes chapters on the Hebrew/Christian view, the contrasting classical Greek views, the medieval view, the Hindu and Buddhist views, Conservative and Liberal theories,Kant's Copernican revolution, Freud's psychoanalytic view, the existensialist view, the Darwinian view and the scientific-materialism. Finally he concludes with a discussion of the question of free will, ultimately holding that each one of us must decide for ourselves who and what we are, and, based on that answer, how we should live.
