They say that life is what happens while we're busy making plans. Much of the heart of life comes about unexpectedly, unplanned and, as is often the case, unexplained. In the midst of all the activity and the hurrying about, are our children. They take in all of life with wide-eyed wonderment and curiosity and constantly challenge us. What follows is an attempt to describe and share comments and questions I've received from my four children over the last 25 years. It is a journey of life through the eyes of 5 year olds as they ponder some very deep questions, such as "If God made us, who made God?" or "Why did your dad die so young?" and at the same time remind us of the playfulness of life with some not-so -deep questions like "When will Daddy be done with his job?" and "Could Jesus make a dog fly?" Our kids' questions can teach us much about life, if we slow down and take the time to really listen. This book provides the space, both physically and psychologically, to reflect and journal about our life's challenges and opportunities. What follows are philosophical questions that are as old as humankind (Who made us? Who is God?) and as off-the-wall as they come ("Would it hurt if spaceship hit me in the face?"). All in all, what is compiled here is what our children's questions can teach us about life.
