Winter Grave

The second entry to the mystery series set in Sweden featuing Detective Embla Nyström.

Shortly before Christmas, nine-year-old Amelie Holm goes missing in the small town of Strömstad, Sweden. Despite their best efforts the police are unable to find any trace of the child, although suspicion falls on seventeen-year-old Kristoffer Sjöberg, who has learning difficulties. He gave Amelie a ride on the day in question and seems to have been the last person to see her.

Six weeks later, when Detective Embla Nyström returns to work following the trauma she suffered during the previous year's elk hunt, her fellow officers haven't managed to make much progress on the case, and they now have a homicide on their hands: a visiting Norwegian with a criminal record was stabbed on New Year's Eve. Then the body of a murdered police officer, Viktor Jansson, is found in a ditch outside the town, stretching resources to the limit. On the very same day another child goes missing. How can all this be happening in one small town?

Can they track down the two missing children before it's too late? Time is of the essence as the team jumps into action, and all three officers in the mobile unit are struggling to balance the complications of their personal lives with the pressing demands of their job.
