Within This Covenant

Within This Covenant examines the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, the role of the believer in the sacrament and within the Christian community. For many Christians the Lord’s Supper, also called Communion, has become a 

practice of tradition rather than the rich fullness of devotion. Beginning with the bread and the wine, Eileen Moore looks closely at the Covenant we enter when we accept salvation and forgiveness from God, before thinking about how we examine ourselves before  taking Communion. She believes the command to examine ourselves helps to restore relationships within our communities, drawing us back to worship and service as God intended. Moore finally reminds us that nothing can separate us from the love of God.  

Due to her experience as the daughter of Protestant missionaries, Eileen Moore has long considered the practice of Communion and its meaning in her own life.     Her stories add a rich color to the discussion of the sacrament and help us to pause as we consider what the Lord’s Supper means to each of us. Within This Covenant calls us to fully celebrate this sacrament apart from the distraction of life, focusing our attention on the fullness of faith that God has given his church in their individual communities.
