Women in a Restructuring Australia

Restructuring in the global economy since the 1970s has brought major changes to Australia. This restructuring has had profound effects upon women's lives. More women are now in paid employment, equal opportunity provisions have been established and the welfare system has undergone major changes. In this study, leading feminist writers, including Lois Bryson, Bettina Cass, Rosemary du Plessis, Belinda Probert and Sheila Shaver, ask whether restructuring has improved the position of women, whether greater gender equality has been achieved, and what the implications are for both women's and men's citizenship.
