Women in Salisbury Cathedral Close

This book is the first study of women who were connected with the Close. Some, but not all, might be farmiliar to reraders, but the details of their lives reveal how they contributed to this special society from the 13th century until today, without upsetting the status quo.

The acceptance of women has been of great historical significance and in 2014 there is no longer a feeling of the Close being a community of men. As Dame Sarah Mullally writes in her foreword:

'We know that women have always been present in the Cathedral and Close but history does not always record that and so this book plays an important role in reminding us that this was and is the case.'
