Lisa Varchol Perron is a children’s author and poet whose work has been featured in numerous anthologies, journals, and magazines. Her books include Patterns Everywhere, My Love for You, and Tell Me About Space. In addition to being an author, Lisa works as a psychotherapist with specialized training in child and adolescent development. She holds graduate degrees from New York University and UC Berkeley and now lives outside of Boston, Massachusetts, with her husband and two children.Nik Henderson was raised in Strafford, Missouri, on a small hobby farm surrounded by chickens, goats, ducks, and horses. Inspired by the hillside of the Ozarks, he began drawing and painting at a young age. He studied illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. The artist still lives in Strafford.
Recensioner i media
Perron’s accessible STEM-friendly text about meteorological phenomena grounds itself in that quintessential question of childhood: ‘Why?’ . . . A great choice for readers wondering about weather. — The Horn Book MagazineAgainst tightly metered verse by Varchol Perron (All the Rocks We Love), a child gazes up and asks the question, ‘How I wonder, wonder why,/ why are you so blue, big sky?’ The sky itself replies in lines both graceful and scientifically accurate . . . Throughout, spreads contrast crisp edges and washlike textures; in one, Henderson (Evidence!) shows sun rays beaming through layers of Earth’s atmosphere, filtering them to a brilliant blue. — Publishers WeeklyA beautifully illustrated starting point for explorations of weather; by asking more questions than it answers, perhaps it will inspire discussion. — School Library Journal
