Wrapped in the Colours of the Earth

In Wrapped in the Colours of the Earth the authors survey the cultural heritage of three of the first nations of eastern North America. The Migmag material is treated through art history, emphasising the artistry of costume and quillwork designs. The Iroquoian lifeways on the island of Montreal prior to European contact are examined through discussion of archaeological findings. The section on Nunavik addresses more contemporary issues with a description of present-day Inuit place names and an exploration of the critical link between language, culture, and ancestral lands.
