This volume presents eleven specialised and technical papers, plus an introduction, on the zooarchaeology of pre-Hispanic South America. Specially commissioned from young zooarchaeologists, the essays discuss: the diet of Patagonian hunter-gatherers; late Holocene hunter-gatherers from the Pampean Wetlands of Argentina; the fauna of the Andes; the human exploitation of fauna in the Pampean area; processing and consuming practices in western Central Patagonia; the recovery of mammal bones from excavations in southerb Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego; the zooarchaeology of Peru; faunal remains from Montenegro; vertebrate fauna from Ecuador; neotrpical zooarchaeology in Ecuador. Five papers in English, one in French, five in Spanish.
