A Soldier Remembers

An intrepid patriot, an underground reactionary against the Raj, HC Venugopal never shunned the call of duty. Later he joined the Indian Army and believed firmly that soldiers were not only meant to fight, but also to contribute in humanitarian actions in the service of society. Very modest about his achievements, he received a VSM for his efforts in the volatile North East, where he took on insurgents fearlessly, and carried out a number of civil works for the locals. A truly inspiring autobiography it is a must read for the youth.
