Coleridge and Textual Instability

This book documents the existence of numerous different versions of Coleridge's seven best-known poems - a multiplicity of texts that raises important theoretical questions about the consitution of the Coleridge canon, the ontological identity of a work, and current methods of editing and interpreting. Along with a great deal of historical, biographical, and textual information, Stillinger offers a new practical theory of versions. An appendix provides texts and elaborate apparatuses for the seven poems.
