In a world where globalization, digitalization, crisis and polarization are putting severe pressure on most organizations, the previously accepted tools of effective governance and communication are no longer effective. This book is based in a belief that leadership is first and foremost about strategic communication: creating common meaning, building trust and formulating engaging narratives, not only for one's own organization but for society as a whole. The book presents an approach anchored in strategic improvisation a combination of order and chaos. Strategic improvisation allows organizations and leaders to meet the demands of a paradoxical world in which windows of opportunity constantly open as well as close. It requires three essential criteria: a clear framework (composition), a professional interpretation and a situational adaption based on given possibilities and conditions (improvisation). It clearly describes how different organizations (corporations, governmental organizations, NGOs) can use the concept and tools.
