Cotton Davidson - The Rifleman of the AFL

Cotton was an unstoppable force famously known as The Rifleman for his bullet-like passing game in professional football, playing for the Raiders in the American Football League. Enrolling at Baylor University and quickly ascending to the starting quarterback position on the Baylor football team opened the door as a first-round draft pick by the Baltimore Colts in the National Football League brought another world full of change and challenges. The succeeding years of competing with many of the greatest athletes in the NFL and AFL provided more priceless experiences. However, a pro-football quarterback cannot stay on top of the game forever. The time finally came for me to consider coaching rather than playing. Back to Baylor he was welcomed and spent the next twenty-one years coaching quarterbacks and receivers. It felt good to be back in familiar places among the wonderful people where my roots are, Gatesville, Texas, in Coryell County.
