Decreasing the fresh water prices has also been a big concern within the desalination industry. The need for alternatives to providing clean drinking water increased exponentially with a mix of contributing issues such as overpopulation and changes in the environment and climate. Desalination is a feasible option for Egypt's coastal areas due to the availability of brackish water and seawater sources, and the potential to dispose of brine in coastal waters. In Egypt, grid electricity penetration in rural areas is limited, and is sometimes intermittent even then. Water collected from groundwater wells in new Egyptian communities is brackish, and typically non-potable. In this paper, the feasibility of connecting the grid desalination plant with a solar photovoltaic or wind turbine is studied, with the goal of producing low cost electricity in a sustainable manner. Using SAM 2018.11.11 r4 software package, a comprehensive mathematical models for the Photovoltaic powered Reverse Osmosis (PVRO) and Wind Turbine Reverse Osmosis (WTRO) system have been implemented and designed from an economical point view improving the system recovery rate and product quality.
