Economics of Soyabean variety in Marathwada region of Maharashtra

Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merill) is a leguminous crop and belongs to family leguminoceae. It is originated in China and a major oilseed crop in the world. Soybean is known as the "golden bean", "miracle crop" etc, because of its several uses. It is an excellent source of protein and oil. In India during the 2015-16 the area under soybean was 10.91 million hectares with 8.70 million tonnes production . In Maharashtra, soybean occupied an area of 38.00 lakh hectares with production of 30.72 lakh metric tons. The area under soybean in Parbhani district was 1.88 lakh hectares with production of 1.60 lakh metric tonnes.Multistage sampling design was adopted in selection of district, tehsil, villages and soybean growers. Soybean growers were stratified into two groups i.e. MAUS-162 (32) and JS-335 (32). In all 64 soybean growers were selected for the study. The tabular analysis, functional analysis and frequency and percentage analysis were used to analyze the data. In order to determine profitability of soybean, costs and returns are important aspects.
