BackgroundPsoriasis is a skin disease that occurs in 2- 3 % of the population that maylead to disruption of the quality of the lifestyle. This study aimed to investigate the antipsoriatic activity of topical metformin in mouse tailmodel. Additionally, to study the use of metformin topically and orally inan attempt to evaluate its effectiveness on imiquimod-induced psoriasis in mice. Conclusion From present study, the followings can be concluded and that involvedOral and topical metformin (10% and 15%) gels had antipsoriatic. Secondly: Protective and therapeutic effect of metformin against imiquimodinduced psoriasis probably through mechanistic pathway involved antiinflammatory, anti-proliferative and antiangiogenesis effect thirdly: Metformin topical gel (10% and 15%) more effective against imiquimod induced psoriasis when being compared to oral metformin (150mg/kg).Fourthly: Topical and oral metformin showed less antipsoriatic activity in comparison with clobetasol. Fifthly: Metformin had an ameliorating effect on histopathological changes of mice skin that induced by imiquimod.
