New York, 2011. A fifteen-year-old girl is found crucified on the outskirts of the city. Miren Triggs, investigative reporter for the Manhattan Press, receives an unexpected and odd-looking envelope. Inside there is a Polaroid of another teenage girl, gagged and hand-tied, with a single note: "GINA PEBBLES, 2002."

Miren Triggs and Jim Schmoer, her old journalism professor, will follow the clue of the girl's photograph while they investigate the crucifixion in New York. They will enter a religious institution where everything is kept secret, and delve into a unique enigma full of suspense, for which they must answer three impossible questions: What happened to Gina? Who sent the Polaroid? And most importantly, are both stories connected?
