Though he's a unicorn, Gerald's character is a relatable for kids. His fur is shaggy and his magic hasn't appeared, causing him feel different both in appearance and ability. Feeling hopeless, Gerald isn't sure how to change the way things are for him. He meets a unique little butterfly who recognizes Gerald's kindness and helps him see that the qualities that make us special are not in our appearances or abilities, it's what's on the inside that counts.
