Brother Joe, a Baptist minister, bears the scars of being reared in an orphanage and separated from his baby brother, who grew up to become a petty criminal. The pastor seemingly cannot catch a break as he is persecuted by a wealthy old parishioner in his first church assignment and struggles financially to support his only living kin.
