The Earth died on July 3, 2046.
The beginning of the end came swiftly, unannounced, and was barely noticed.
Within months, the Earth was suffering from a cancerous blight for which there was no explanation, no cure and no escape.

Earth's last survivors, the final remnants of civilization, took up residence in a Network of orbiting space stations.
