Grant Jewell Rich, L.M.T., N.C.T.M.B., is 2nd vice president of the Ohio chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association and chair of the editorial advisory board of the Massage Therapy Journal, a national quarterly with a circulation of over 60,000. Grant is currently visiting faculty in psychology atOhio State University Mansfield and he has served on the faculties of Antioch College and Columbus State Community College as well. Grant received a B.A.in English from Oberlin College, and a M.A. in psychology from the University of Chicago, where he is a Ph.D. candidate. At Chicago, he received the four-year tuition and stipend University Fellowship and the Bernice Neugarten Award for Dissertation-related research. He has taught numerous courses, including research methods, social psychology, abnormal psychology, and human development. At Chicago, he worked with best-selling author Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, co-authoring work on flow and peak experience, and conducting interviews with eminent creators for Csikszentmihalyi's 1996 book, Creativity, which became a Quality Paperback Book club Top 10 Best Seller.<br/><br/>Grant has given talks and presentations at many national conferences, including the American Anthropological Association, the American Education Research Association, the Pacific Sociological Association, the American Psychological Society, the Society for Research on Child Development, and the Society for Research on Adolescence. He has served as a reviewer for Cambridge University Press, Creativity Research Journal, Journal of Research on Adolescence, Corwin Press, Journal of Marriage and the Family, National Council on Family Relations, Massage Therapy Journal and other journals and organizations. He has served on the boards of several social service organizations including the National Hallof Fame for People with Disabilities and Mentorship Columbus. He serves on the editorial board of the American Anthropological Association's Anthropologyof Consciousness, and is guest editing of special issue of this journal on the "body and consciousness." He has written for numerous publications including Psychology Today, Massage, Massage Therapy Journal, Keyboard, Anthropologyand Education Quarterly, Anthropology of Consciousness, Family Relations, Creativity Research Journal, Skeptical Inquirer, Antioch Review, and Anthropology and Medicine. He has served on the AMTA Foundation research proposal review committee.
