Moments in Probability and Approximation Theory

This research monograph gives an account of the author's work in the field of applications of geometric moment theory to probability and approximation theory. Kemperman's geometric approach is applied to moment theory, to study the degree of approximation and rate of convergence of sequences of positive linear operators (pointwise convergeance to the unit operator) and probability (finite) measure (weak convergence to the unit measure). These are motivated by the Korovkin convergence theorems.
