My Footsteps in Africa

AT THE END OF 1960, IN FARAWAY AFRICA, a starry-

eyed, sixteen year old schoolgirl, left behind the indigent farming community where she was born and headed for the alluring neon lights

of a big city.

The comely, but naive young girl, experienced a rude awakening by the lascivious behavior of her

brother-in-law and by the unexpected sexual overtures of the lustful manager at her first job.

Inadequate academic credentials compelled her to

return home and spent another two years in the

loathsome hostel to complete her education and graduate.

Roma retraced her steps back to the city where she met Geano, a wealthy Italian, old enough to be her father, and they fell gloriously in love ... but no wedding bels chimed.

In her most outrageous dreams there were no premonitions of the heartaches and trials that stalked her future and no glimpse of the hard-

boiled courage and dogged faith she would need to

overcome deplorable circumstances.

This compelling LIFE-JOURNEY unraveled in rural

AFRICA, winding its way from an obscure and remote farm to bold city lights and ultimately,

settled in an idyllic valley on a sublime farming estate. Roma gave birth to three children and lived a fairytale life, but time was up! The clock struck twelve and she lost

her glass slipper. Her golden coach reverted back to a pumpkin ....

Betrayal and the loss of their estate, thrust

the family into poverty and heartbreaking times ensue.

The government changed hands and violence and murder swept over her beloved country. Roma had

a narrow escape at the hands of villains and the family flees to the U.S.A., fearing for their lives.

Culture-shock and the harsh reality of a dis-parate world, coupled with indelible memories and unmitigated guilt, trapped Roma in a morass of "insanity" and forsaken faith.

Would she triumph over the "ash-heap" of her life, regain her precious faith and find a purpose to survive in that foreign land?
